Ultimate Hunting & Fishing • View topic - Who makes a good aluminum boat for the big NW rivers?

Looking at buying a rugged and sturdy boat for some big NW (Oregon, Washington) rivers. Have not decieded if I am going to put a jet drive on it or not. Any ideas about a good boat out there? This boat must be able to handle rough water.

If you run these Washington Rivers there are a lot of great aluminium boat builders today. I like the Willies and Hydes the best but don't rule some of the other makers. Willies are just plain tough. They are built like an M-1 Tank plus they have some great custom options like gas heating, great for those cold drifts in the winter. The Hyde is more custom designed for a fly fisherman. Good Luck on your search. Drop me a line if you have questions.

If you are looking for a boat that is custom made for that enviroment you need to look into a North River, Alumaweld, a Duckworth, or a Hewes.

They can be equipped with either an outboard, or inboard with a jetdrive.

I have a 19.5' North River with a 115HP Yamaha and it's the best boat I have ever owned. It's stable, handles well in rough water and is a pleasure to fish out of. But hard to find a used one.

Good luck,

Yosemite sam
