After our horrible Biscuit Fire in 2002, which destroyed huge tracks of public land, our deer hunting is coming back and the hunting is now awesome! The Rogue, Applegate, Dixon and Chetco units are rocking with a large rebounding deer population with a great buck to doe ratio. In fact, the number of big trophy bucks are up bigtime in the last couple of seasons in this area. From what my buddies are telling me, this area is now the premier place to be for hunting blacktails in the Northwest. The only thing bad about this burn area is that much of this country is steep and rocky. Speaking with some of the Fish and Game guys they stated that the hills between Prospect and Crater Lake has produced some great trophy bucks. Hopefully I will get a great buck this year. Good luck hunting this fall and hope we call all shoot a wall hanger!
